Therapy in Dublin City Centre & Dundalk, Co. Louth.

Based in South Dublin and Dundalk, Niamh Duffy provides tailored, specialised psychotherapy for a range of mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, and relationship difficulties. Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed by persistent low mood, chronic worry, or a sense of emotional unease. Others may be navigating challenges in their relationships — with partners, family, or friends — or exploring aspects of their identity and sexuality. As a psychoanalytic psychotherapist, I offer a reflective, depth-oriented and non-judgmental space to explore not just what you're feeling — but why those feelings may be trying to repeat themselves in your life. As with trees, it's often not the branches we must examine first, but the roots — to understand why things grow the way they do. Contact me to Get Started.

What is Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy?

My work is based on the principles underlying psychoanalytic theory and practice. Psychoanalytic work privileges the unconscious. The unconscious is the motive force of who we are and what we do. By providing a space where the unconscious is listened to this facilitates you to hear what you are unaware of and yet it is governing who you are and what you do. This is a highly specialised and depth-oriented process, uniquely responsive to each individual. Psychoanalytically, the unconscious is understood in linguistic terms, and therefore, this means that it is through speaking that the work begins — a process that allows for a tailored therapeutic experience rooted in the singularity of your experience.
